Landcare ACT is inviting expressions of interest for the voluntary position of Chair of the Board – a leadership opportunity at a pivotal moment of transformation and growth for Landcare in the ACT. This is a rare chance to shape the future of a trusted, community organisation with a proud legacy and strong national role.
We seek an exceptional individual to guide our governance, strengthen our strategic direction, and represent a vibrant community-driven movement in the ACT and across Australia.
About Us
Landcare ACT is the peak body representing Landcare in the ACT. We are a member-based, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering community groups and volunteers in conserving, restoring, and sustainably managing our natural environment. Through our members our network includes over 100 active community groups and thousands of volunteers working across rural landscapes, urban parklands, nature reserves, and
waterways throughout the region. We collaborate closely with First Nations peoples, private landholders, government agencies, and partner organisations to champion environmental stewardship from the ground up.
The Opportunity
As Chair of the Board, you will:
• Lead a purpose-driven organisation rooted in community values and environmental action
• Advocate for the vital contributions of Landcare volunteers locally and nationally
• Guide the organisation’s strategic vision during a time of change and renewed focus
• Work closely with a skilled Board and a highly committed CEO to achieve real impact
• Strengthen partnerships with government, stakeholders, and the broader community
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a highly regarded leader who brings:
• A public profile and extensive professional networks
• Proven governance experience, with strategic insight and integrity
• A collaborative, inclusive leadership style
• Sound business acumen and familiarity with regulatory environments
• A deep personal commitment to community-led environmental care
Time Commitment
• 25-30 days per annum
