Landcare ACT Board Communique
Dear Members and Stakeholders,
We are pleased to provide this update following the 2 July 2025 meeting of the Board.
Board Chair Recruitment
The Board continues to progress the recruitment process for a new Chair. During this process, it has come to our attention that certain clauses in the organisation’s Constitution may present a barrier to potential applicants. The Board has requested options to address these restrictions and will review recommendations to ensure the process remains inclusive and accessible to a diverse and skilled pool of candidates.
Strategic Planning Progress
The Board acknowledged the success of the recent Board and Member strategy meeting. This productive session marked the beginning of a series of consultations to review and shape a renewed strategic plan for the organisation. We thank all participants for their valuable insights and look forward to continued collaboration. Complementary to this process is re-establishing a revised Members Council in the coming period.
Upcoming General Meeting – 30 July 2025
The Board has approved the holding of a General Meeting on 30 July 2025. The key item of business will be the consideration of a special resolution to amend the Constitution, specifically to replace the current Public Fund with a new Gift Fund to be consistent with regulatory requirements. Further details, including meeting notices and explanatory material, will be distributed shortly.
Project Highlights
We are pleased to report the successful completion of the Youth Project and the Diversity Project, both of which were enthusiastically received by participants and have had a strong community impact.
In addition, the Urban Rivers Project is being delivered as planned, and a highly successful community planting day was held at Brookvale Farm, demonstrating the power of community collaboration in advancing our environmental goals.
The Board welcomes the appointment of Millie Sutherland Saines as Senior Communications and Project Officer.
We thank all members, volunteers, partners, and supporters for their continued dedication and contribution to the work of the organisation.
