ACT community invited to attend online Weeds Forum

Landcarers, landowners, government staff, researchers and interested community members are invited to register for Landcare ACT’s Weeds Forum, held online on Wednesday, 3 November 2021.

Karissa Preuss, Landcare ACT CEO, said that with the recent rains it is easy to see weed issues in our urban, rural and park landscapes.

“Landcarers in the ACT make a significant contribution to our environment in terms of weed control. The Forum will facilitate Landcarers, weeds experts and government to share knowledge, experience, and strategies for managing weeds across the ACT Region,” said Ms Preuss.

The interactive Weeds Forum will utilise online collaboration tools to allow participants to share their views and ideas. Resources will also be available after the Forum on a virtual bookshelf.

“We will hear about invasive plant management issues in the region, explore current and possible alternative solutions, as well as discussing practical examples of best practice weed management.”

“This Forum will enable knowledge sharing to support Landcarers in their important voluntary work of caring for our Bush Capital,” said Ms Preuss.

“Our main objective is to discuss how the Landcare community can work together with government and others to continue improving and maintaining healthy productive landscapes in the ACT region,” said Ms Preuss.

The Weeds Forum is part of the Smart Farms Small Grants 2 program currently being delivered by Landcare ACT funded through the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
