Landcare ACT Welcomes Dr Maxine Cooper

Landcare ACT is delighted to announce Dr Maxine Cooper as its new Chair. Dr Cooper takes over the reins from Dr Peter Bridgewater.

Dr Cooper has extensive experience as ACT Auditor-General, and previously as the Commissioner for Sustainability and Environment, Chair and Executive Director ACT Water Security Taskforce and as a professional senior executive in the ACT Government, Brisbane City Council, New South Wales Government and in private enterprise.

Dr Cooper’s skills and experience will bring a renewed focus to the ACT’s peak body for land stewardship. She has led organisations responsible for land and resource management; parks planning and management; urban and regional planning; transport planning; sustainability planning; arts policy, management and grant funding; and heritage policy and planning.

Landcare ACT is the Territory’s peak non-government organisation for landcare, the stewardship of the land by the people. It supports caring for our living legacy in urban, peri-urban and rural areas, parks, reserves and waterways and supports traditional custodianship methods as part of sustainable natural resource management.
